Hannigan Chrome Wheels Upgrade

Hopefully I will be adding the Hannigan Trike kit to my 99 RSV in the Spring. My question is about the option of Chrome Wheels. And this is probably going to be really opinionated. Do any of you have them? Do you think that they add a great deal to the appearence of the Trike, or are the standard wheels that are offered also look real good? The upgrade price is $300.00. Owen.

Welcome aboard NEMO. I have the 09 RSV Hannigan. I didn't get the chrome wheels because I plan to change them in the future. You might want to check around before you buy decide on the chrome. Check my pictures in my profile. Another thing; you may want to order your trike kit early from Hannigan. They had a warehouse fire in March 2011, and it took me almost 4 months to get my kit. Last I heard they were still backed up on the RSV kits. You can always give them a call. My was completed 10/2011.

If you have any questions that you may want to know, just drop me a private email.

I'm getting my 2000 RSV triked over the winter and was looking at other wheel options but they are really strict on the 39mm offset. There doesn't seem to be any one that has a 39mm offset. They have got 38mm and 40mm rims all over the place. I would like something different but it ain't easy. I've checked with pepboys but they all go to american racing for wheels like hannigan does for theres some are made overseas and some from calif. You would think you could fudge 1mm, right? But if you do find some place please let me know. I wanted chrome smoothies with baby moons but that ain't going to happen. They didn't leave any room in the fender wells.

I have been scouring the aftermarket wheel catalogs and have yet to find a 15x7 4-100 39mm offset wheel anywhere The wheel makers don't provide any way of searching by all the needed parameters to find exactly the wheel size you need. 15X7 is becoming a hard wheel to find. If there is a 16x7 then you'd need to determine the proper tire to use with it.

Looks like if you want anything other than what Hannigan offers, you will have to buy a wheel with 35-39mm offset and have them milled to a 39 . You will also need to pay attention to the width of the wheel lip to be sure you have the needed clearance to the inner lip of the fender.

You may be able to run a 38, but, I have not looked at clearance issues with the caliper or spindle casting so I can't say it'll work. Doing so would be at your own risk.

I have a 2010 Hannigan with back chrome wheels and I think that they are very worth it. In fact if I had to do it over I would have got the frt chrome two. One they look better and two they clean up better. JMO

Bernie did you hear hannigan has changed there wheels to 16" and they have new wheels for them. Three styles polished, chrome and black center polished edge. I got the chrome, they have some style to them finally. John Lee sent me the pictures of them and I put my kit on order. Will be done march 23rd. Jim

Going to have a look. Thanks for the info. ThumbUp

No. I will have to check. Thanks! I should have known they was going to do that after I converted. I was hoping they had 16" when I purchased mine. Now I have to wait until the tires wear out.

They don't have the rims on there web site yet. I had to call John Lee at Hannigan to send me the pictures. They are great looking rims I think. I saw them on a roadsmith trike at the bike show a few weeks ago and man were they nice! the tires are 195/55 16. Of course I can't find them in a w/w Bernie,at least not yet. Does anyone know of a low profile tire that will fit on the front of the venture, like goldwings have?

Here are 2 of the 3 wheel options available for the Venture, the Kawasakis, the GL1800 GEN I and GEN II trikes. The third is a blacked-out version with chrome lug nuts and polished outside rim.

Any questions or further needs please call the number below.

FYI: The GL1500 uses the same 15" wheels/options from 2007-2011. The BMW trike will continue to utilize the same wheels unique to the BMWs as well.
*These 2012 wheels Will Not retro-fit to the 2011 and back model trikes.

Hi John, So us that have the 15 inch now we can go to to a 16 inch?
and how much is the price on the chrome for the 16 in these days?
Also , would this have any effect in the speedo going to the larger tire?
Thanks,
Jeff

I was looking for another style of wheel and the options are few. I took the wheel off mine and checked the markings. My 15 in wheel is American Racing 15x7 et40 tire size 195/60. The 40mm offset makes a few more wheels available. Not much out there I like, the American Racing Aero is nice. It resembles the cragar SS wheels I had in high school.
Here is a calculator I found for the offset, the more offset the tire moves inward.

With the newer rotors I think they could be off set a tad inward a bit
Gunny please let me know what you find in the 15 inch Thanks!
if that helps for a larger selection. otherwise there working fine as
they are now. this looks pretty neat "Wheel Offset Calculator"

As you all know by now that I got my Venture/Hannigan back home a couple of weeks ago and I did have the 2012 chrome 16" wheels put on it. Very nice looking wheel and an eye catcher for sure. I'm also impressed at the width of these tires. They're really wide! The perfect addition to a perfect trike! Owen.

I haven't driven enough miles as yet to determine that. Actually, I don't know how I'll figure that out, unless being followed by a car. I'm also recording the gas milage because I'm curious about how it affects that. Maybe I can post some figures later. By the way, I love the beautiful way this baby tracks down the road! A very enjoyable ride. WOW! Owen.
