I am looking for new Trike Insurance.
My Allstate agent told me my insurance premium would go down once I triked my GW.
Well he messed this one up, I triked my GW and the insurance didn't go down it went up because now he claims he has to insure the value of vehicle (didn't they always do this)....well after a battle with him and telling him he is a lousy agent I'm looking to move on.
Can others suggest companies that they might use.
I have no accidents or violations in well over 10 yrs.
I have been driving motorcycles since I was 16 and with Allstate since I was 16.
I don't qualify to be as old as dirt but I'm nipping it on it's heels.

I have been with the gecko for 5+ years with the bike. They insure the bike by the book, and any non-stock addons, like Chrome, custom wheels, trike kit, etc go on a "rider" policy. Discount for riding class certification.

Good luck Trucker! If you find an Insurance co that's offering decent priced Insurance on Motorcycles please post them. We are with Allstate as well. I am presently trying to understand their pricing policies. We took off my wife's 2010 SG Trike worth 26K and added back on my 2010 Road King worth 15K and our premium went up????

I checked with Foremost. They are a lot higher than Allstate. Haven't priced Geico and Progressive yet.

A lot depends on were you live.
I have full coverage with foremost,357 dollars a year, this includes towing,3 nights stay in a motel and car rental.
I deal directly with foremost no agent.

I know it depends on the state you live, but Formost wanted 1200.00 a year for my wife's 2012 Triglide alone. we have no ticket's or accident's. I'm sure that was the stupid test though to see if I would pay it. We are paying Allstate 368.00 a year for my wife's 2012 Triglide and 215.00 for my 2010 RK (not triked yet)

We just went to Progressive, $204.00 for a year on the 2010 Kaw bike ($14,000) and up to $15,000.00 for add-ons(trike).

I was with Dairyland Insurance for 15 years. During that time I moved from Virginia to West Virginia and saw my rate double. This past year I contacted Riders Insurance and got a quote that was less than half of my previous policy with the exact same coverage. I upped my coverage and still managed to cut my policy premium in half. This is the best kept secret out in the motorcycle insurance world. I have customers changing their policies every week.

Only available in certain states, Pennsylvania being one of them. Good Luck and get back with us on your results.

Motorcycle Insurance: Rider Insurance, Motorcycle Insurance for New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Maryland

My agent insured the BIKE, then added the trike kit cost under accessory coverage. I use progressive. But the point is, get yourself an agent that specializes in motorcycles, in your state. Buying insurance off the shelf on-line is asking for trouble. Mine can sell any insurance, but her desk is at a Honda shop, and bike insurance pay her bills.

I had my bike trike last month, and GEICO said my insurance will remain the same.

You better check and make sure if your trike gets totaled do you just get what your GW is worth?
Better double & triple check.
Have to look at it this way .....would you insure an $18,000.00 GW for same price as an GW with a roughly 13K - 15k trike addition?

I went with Pirate Insurance....they call themselves The insurance for Bikers, by Bikers. 309 a year for my v-cycle. I'm happy , progressive quoted me 1200 a year. Asked them what they were smokin'.

As can be seen clearly in the responses, different companies are better deals in different places and circumstances. After flailing around I found an independent agent who checked a number of companies. His quote for Progressive was different than another agents, BTW.

I ended up with Foremost. But the point is get a good agent who'll do the legwork for you. What you hear here, from all kinds of people all around, means nothing.

I'm happy with Allstate, the premium for my Kawaski Vulcan AND my Vtx Trike is only $152 per year and I've not bothered to look elsewhere. But, I also have three cars and a house with Allstate and I'm sure that makes a big difference.

Price is not the only thing to look at.
You have to see the amount of coverage you have, if you have full tort or not, your deductables, coverage of vehicle (when triking a bike you have the value of the trike kit plus the value of the bike and also any accessories).

Sad to say that there is not "one size fits all" when it comes to Trike insurance. Seems that EVERY state is different and what is the best deal around in Illinois is the worse for us who live in Texas.
Having home- cars & trucks with State Farm here is great but when i wanted to add my GL trike my agent said that their rates were some of the highest for MC's and my best bet would be to go to Progressive or Geico.
Even then one has to really look at the insurance and make sure that you are getting ADD ons that will cover the cost of the trike otherwise you end up with just bike coverage. 10K for a gl1800 2001 vers 24K for the same bike with all the trike and add ons that i have on mine......

Would be nice to hear from ridders in diff states about the insurance that they have in that state & what experiences they have had with insurance @ repair & collecting.
