Being your neighbor in New Jersey, checked to see where our paths cross. Looks like that's in Virginia, most of the way down.

</div>Yes, we will travel I-81. We can plan to meet around Wytheville. Let's talk more as the time approaches. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

OK, my plans are to leave on the Wednesday, the 20th at around 8:00am and take Route 78 from Allentown, PA to Harrisburg, PA and then pick up Route 81S and ride to Radford, VA and stay overnight at a Best Western Hotel. That is about 404 miles from my home, should arrive in Radford, VA somewhere around 4:00pm. Then leave Radford, VA at about 8 or 9 AM on the 21st, it is about 237 miles to Maggie Valley, NC so, I would think we would arrive in Maggie Valley somewhere around 1 or 2 pm.

Took this ride back in July 2011 and there was some construction, but overall 81 South was a good ride all the way to Route 40.

Let me know if anyone wants to join up.

Looks like we are traveling the same route, only we start 80 miles further east. We go right through Allentown on I-78. If we also stay at Radford, VA, then it makes our first leg 483 miles and second leg same as yours, 237 miles. Ride is not split too well for us. To meet you in Allentown at 8:00, we would have to leave at 6:30. Definitely we could join up, just have concerns about the length of the first day. Let's see what plans others have. Thanks!

Been watching this thread, route is close to what I did last year, thinking of it this year too. Riding solo, wife still working, on the road early, 6ish, off the road by 3 or 4 cause of heat, retired so in no big hurry to get anywhere. last year stopped in Lancaster, pa., then Blacksburg, Va. next, then maggie valley next day. I stop whenever it feels like I'm due to call it a day. Will stay in Maggie Valley at Smoky Mountain Motel , couple of doors down from Microtel and Best Western, $50 a night, driveup to door place, clean quiet place, run by nice couple, I'll leave here whenever, if you're looking for company maybe we can get together.

Ok,

Looks like the plans are the same as I mentioned above, however the ksu time is up in the air. If we average 50 miles an hour, it would be an 8 eight hour day (400 Miles day one), plus the time for stops. I generally cruise at about 75 MPH, so this could be a 9 to 10 hour day. I would like to get into Radford somewhere around 5 or 6 PM depending on traffic.

So my first stop will be a rest area on Route 81 south bound just before Harrisburg, PA (70 Miles) coffee relief, then continuing on to Chambersburg, PA (64 Miles) for gas. Then 81S to Woodstock, VA (96 Miles) for gas and lunch, then to Natural Bridge, VA (110 Miles), then to Radford too finish out the day (68 Miles). Should not be to bad of a day.

On Thursday morning leave Radford somewhere around 9:00am goto Blountville, TN (126 Miles) coffee relief and gas, then 116 miles to the Best Western in Maggie Valley. I would think we would arrive in MV somewhere around 1 or 2 PM.

Mileages are estimates but it is 649 miles from Allentown,PA to Maggie Valley, NC.

Again, not sure what time I'm leaving on Wednesday, June 20th, but the later I leave the later I get to Radford, VA and I'm thinking I wanna get there between 5 or 6 PM.

Ride Safe and Enjoy!!!! See ya'll in Maggie Valley!!!!!!!!
