Anyone else?

Those gears are not new....but, are you looking at the moly smeared in the teeth?

Yes, it does look like grease now that you mention it.
Looking really good. Keep up the good work.
With the added oiling you've created in the lower end, that mill should be about bulletproofThumbUp

I'm a little surprised you didn't grab a set of straight cut timing gears, Rex.

None the less, it is looking awesome brother!

I did seriously consider straight cuts.
I just dont want to listen to them all the time.
They are basically right between my ankles.
If yu can hear them whine all the way out the back of a beetle.....they gotta be loud.
Of course the case has the double thrust bearing.
But this cam is about as far as you can go and still expect to use a bevel cut.

Closed it up and had to open right back up.

Cam plug did not tighten up.

Got it sorted and closed up again.

Flywheel endplay shimmed.

Now for 350 ft lbs of torque wrench...

Some tight fits with that 86mm crank.

I have never gotton one of those torque multipliers. I have always previously had a giant torque wrench readily available.
For some reason I dont have one handy this time.
It will show up or I will get the multiplier sometime soon.

I welded up an adapter for torque wrench. Wrench does like 200 lb. so I measured the wrench and made an adapter the same lenght. Used cheap adapters for 3/4 drive. Before I retired I used it to tighten police car wheels. After 4 shoulder surgeries I could't push 140 lbs without popin them out. Pushin a hundred on the wrench gives 200 at the socket.

Details details.

Had to make a couple custom fittings to get the primary oil lines on.

Brake fluid resivoir had to come off front that area at blue regulator. No room for it all. Got to put it somewhere else.

Still working on the details.

Deck hieght all measured out and shims ground to thickness.

Have been working on the linkage the past couple evenings. About to get it to work right.

The wheels are now the same aluminum silver por 15 the cases are painted with.

Wish I had the chrome, but the money needs to be spent in other places.

I guess I did not take a pic.

But the cylinders are sandblasted and painted black now.

The pistons are garnet blasted and ceramic coating put on. It looked good, but after some time it looked like the metal was gassing off and blowing bubbles under the ceramic. I left them to dry. If it dont look right I will hafta blast it off and do it again before cooking them.
