01 Goldwing Lehman monarch 1 Rear end grinding noise

Front driveshaft U-joint exploded. Had to drive another 10 miles to get to a place where I could be towed. Now, while getting there the rear end made and still does make a grinding - pause- grinding while under power. No grinding when in going thru the gears while on the stands. Only when on the road and power is put to the rear end. Drive shaft tunnel ( ?) is largely un-scarred. So it's not coming in contact with the drive shaft. Pulled the diff. cover. Results.... 12 to 18 extremely tiny sparkles, oil smelled like new and un-burnt. Very little gear slap at the drive shaft diff. connection. Had pick ups with a lot more gear slap and a lot more miles did fine.

I'm no M/C mechanic but if someone would please point me in the right direction I'll make the repair. Many Thanks to all of you.
