Cat Removal Questions

Funny, I bought these and they were not chromed. I am pretty sure that Wild Pigs does not chrome header pipes, for the same reason nobody else chromes header pipes. Turns blue immediately and chrome flakes off because of the heat.

Yep.......Only the heat shields are chromed.....

Dave,

If you have not already switched out your headers to get rid of the cat, and still want to do so, then check out American Custom. They have replacement headers with the cat already removed. $234 for the headers, and I think you can get a trade in value for your existing headers if you don't want to hold on to them.

(btw - I did all this on my 11 Limited)

I replaced mine about a month ago. In addition to a drop in heat, I and also noticed a little more low end torque (just a little). And as a bonus my stock pipes sound better :)

Ron

Just want to +1 the folks (Bruce) at American Custom. I had them do my stock HD mufflers for $199 and I can’t tell you how many folks with really expensive slip ons have asked me where I got the great sound. Seriously they’re deep and way better than the big bucks V&H ones I sold off to get these.

but the story here is that American Customs will also take your stock HD header and de-cat it for $199. I did these and at the end of the day I added a Ness Big Sucker and had a full stage one tune for about $500! (I chose to have Roeder Racing do a full dyno tune to complete the job)

bottom line, you don’t have to spend big bucks on name brand mufflers and head pipes to have great results!

(btw - I did all this on my 11 Limited and hope to do it on my trike)

What happened you never installed it it did not fit ?

Yes, I did install it and had a leak, (the wife was upset). So I ordered one from Wild Pig. When I was removing yours the rear retainer ring was gone, I know I put one in, I don't understand where it went, I looked all over, I used the old retainer rings, maybe it broke when installing, but that was the leak. So now I have 2. You can have yours back if you want, or if anyone wants it they are welcome to have. Thankyou again for giving it to me.

Yes, it does fit a 2016 and it will not leak if you put new retainer rings.

Also, anyone installing a header, you should order new exhaust gaskets and NEW retainer rings. Amazon has them all for about $20 for everything, 2 day to your door.

I will take it. Please email me at brian.craddock@gmail.com and we can work out the details if Road Dog does not want it back.

Thank you,

Brian

Some day's I go to the tool box and stand there wondering why I'm there ? OLD AGE :xzqxz::xzqxz::xzqxz:

No I dont want it back . Was just wondering why you did not use it , Thats all .

I did use yours but had a leak. And like I was saying, when the Boss is complaining I ordered a new one. At the time if I knew it was the retainer ring I would have ordered new retainer rings. I'm sorry about the mix up.
