As a reminder, every trike manufacture should have a maintenance schedule. Usually they can be found on their web pages. Once a bike is triked, it now has 2 maintenace schedules ... on from Honda and one for the trike. It's important to remember that those schedules assume your riding under perfect conditions ... perfect weather, not over loaded, no dust/dirt, etc. If doing something like pulling a trailer, your maintenance then needs done sooner.

Below is a broken u-joint from a trike, who owner now knows the importance of following his maintenace schedules. When it let go, it was so hot that it melted into the cooling system reservior.

I should also add that there would have been many signs that the u-joint is far passed being worn out. For example, but not limited too, excessive bangyness when shifting, noise when acceleration/decelerating, excessive vibration, vibrating mirrors, etc !!!

On this one, the engine now needs pulled to replace the output shaft that no longer spins true.
