Front brakes as parking brake

I'm new at this triking have been riding about 2 months.

Does anyone see a problem using a bungie cord to secure the front brake on a slope or grade when unable to park on level ground. I have an 05 VTX1300S/MT with no parking brake. or should I use or carry crocks for added security??

I've seen posts from several members who say the bungee cord idea is exactly what they use, and it seems to work well :).

You can use a brake line lock to fit it to the front hose and you can lock it to i know of a case of some kids slashing the bundgy and trike rolled away, not a lot of money and you can get them real small too.

I use 2 home made chocks, tethered together, keep the bike in 1st PLUS a front brake velcro.

3Whelar: What's a brake line lock? Pics? thks

Line locks are typically a valve inserted into the brake line system of a vehicle, that when "flipped on", it doesn't let fluid return to the master cylinder(s), thus keeping the brakes locked...we have them on our wreckers, and used them on race cars.....ThumbUp

why not just use first gear?

I just use first gear. when parked on a steep slope just cut the wheel and drop it in first. Hasn't failed yet. but a simple felcro strap would do.

I looked at the post but, it didn’t answer my question. Could the constant positive not cause problems with the break system seals?

People have been using them for years and or bungee cords as a brake for years and i haven't heard of any problems.......
