front tire for trike

Trying not to ask a stupid question here:

BUT why mount it (bT45 tire) backwards? , I mean what is the reason? advantage?

I thought (here I go "thinking again") that tires were made to shed water away from the grooves, to give us a better smooth'rrr/safer ride...

A factory rep, some time ago, recommended reverse mounting due to the tapered over lap of joint seam. He felt it lessened the chance of the seam coming apart. I think it was never a problem either way. I had no problem for 25000 miles running it backwards but I prefer the trike tire, it seams to handle better. 30000 miles on first and 20000 on the second and still running strong.
