what is the best tire to put on 07 goldwing trike with4.5 degree rake

You will get a lot of differing opinions and remember, they are just opinions. I have a Michelin Pilot Active. It has 9000 miles on it and it looks like I will get another 12000 to 15000 miles.<br />

Yes, it is reversed. I like the wear on the tire and more importantly, I love the handling.<br />

My tirke is raked 5.5 degrees. I like the tire so much I bought another when it was on sale.

</div>Most folks reverse the tire when it was a tire made for the rear. The way a tire is manufactured, there is a splice that apparently can be over stressed if a rear tire is used in front, but with forward rotation. Someone recently said that a motorcycle school trainer also said a rear tire in front should be reversed because if not, the front tire will throw rain water at the rears, causing hydroplaning. Interesting point. Mine is reversed, and in the rain I have not yet hydroplaned front or rear.<br />

The MPA seems to be the hands down favorite here for the heavy trikes. Mine is a VTX, (much lighter than a Wing) and all I can really say is: "It's a tire."

If they ware all marked like the Continentals there wouldn't be too much debate on weather a tire could or couldn't be used and which direction to mount.......

I also have a MPA mounted in reverse.
20,000+ miles on it and still looks like I can get another 5,000+ out of it.

I have the Pilot Activ and it has 16000 miles on it and still going. I do have the rear tire mounted on the front and it is mounted in reverse. Great tire and I would buy another just like it when it comes time to replace it.:yes:

</div>Yes, I agree with the thread splice concept where a rear tire is mounted backwards as not to brake against the tire splice.<br />

However, I have another theory:<br />
<br />
A motorcycle tire is designed to displace water off to the sides and not straight to the rear where the rear motorcycle tire is. <br />
<br />
However, a trike has two rear wheels exactly in the position where the water is displaced. By reversing the tire designed for the rear wheel the water is not thrown into the two rear wheels.<br />

I too went with a MPA right after going through the OEM tire in no time flat. I ran the MPA for almost 39K. I then switched over and tried the BT-45 and like KentuckyBlue, was very pleased with it. I noticed that it did not cup at all and I did not have any "buzz" in my handle bars. Almost 37K with that tire and it could have kept going, but I changed it out before a big trip out west. Both are really good, but I found the BT 45 more to my liking as well.

I put the MPA on my Valkyrie trike.
The improvement in handling was dramatic.
I have an on ramp I often use,it's a long sweeping right turn.
I really don't have to steer except for a slight right hand pressure, I also lean into the turn.
With the stock tire I had to really use the push pull method..
Only problem is speedo is off about 1 mile in 10,,(10%)
anyone know how to correct that??

GPS is how I know it's off.
I can live with that but its racking up 110 miles on the odometer for ever 100 miles I ride...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Honda,,, <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" class="inlineimg" /> THE Yamaha is off too I think they all are <img src="images/smilies/mad.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Mad" class="inlineimg" /> it is a given. A yellow box can correct one or the other but not both..... I think most just live with it,, the mileage racking up really sucks...
