wiredgeorge here... sent forum owner a PM and email through his site and haven't heard back. Friend in San Antonio is getting trike age and wants to know what the best conversion for a HD deuce is. He has never ridden a trike so likely won't get solid axle vs independent rear. Does anyone know anyone in the San Antonio area who does conversions? I have a Roadsmith and have been happy but it is on a GL1800.

Hey there George!

Welcome, or welcome back....are you the “wiredgeorge” from Mico, TX (very close to San Antonio) that sold his 2008 Gold Wing in August, 2017?

If you hear of a trike installer in the San Antonio area would you please post the info out here...thanks!

......Friend in San Antonio is getting trike age......

Welcome aboard. I'd kinda like to know what the definition of "trike age" is. Got friends still on 2 that are in late 70's and them there's me been on a trike since I was 68 (now 75) but because of Parkinson's not age. Just courious.

Again welcome aboard !!!

Trike age is when you feel a wee bit uncomfortable when you drive into a parking spot and then wonder if it isn't a bit down hill and your wife isn't there to push. Trike age is when your wife won't ride with you unless there are three wheels under you. Trike age is when you give up the illusion you are still young enough to carve canyons and find yourself riding kind of, well, stately all the time. In any case, I am George Lesho aka wiredgeorge. My account on this site disappeared but when I tried to apply for a new account using my wiredgeorge nic it told me the username was already taken.

I still live in Mico Texas and still own wiredgeorge Motorcycle Carburetors and work every day cleaning stinky old vintage carburetors. My wife and I now camp in our Keystone Cougar 5th wheel quite a bit. Get out and ride my 06 GL1800 roadsmith conversion quite a bit as well when it isn't 123F outside. My first trike was a GL1500 Roadsmith bought from the fella who sells on eBay from Alabama. Great folks. Should have kept that trike but it was starting to show some age although the engine was great. Little stuff was getting brittle (like me). Since I wanted something newer, bought a 2010 Can-Am Spyder RT. Wife hated it and the 990cc lawn mower engine was buzzy and you had to ride like a two stroke. Handling was just below pathetic. I think they have fixed some of those things so who knows as resale value is really in my price range now for the 1330cc model. Then I bought the 08 Champion conversion; SOLID AXLE. I didn't mind but we have bad roads in Medina County and my wife was not as comfy as the Roadsmith we had previously so scouted and found the PERFECT TRIKE (for me). 06 GL1800 Roadsmith with aux fuel tank, Windbender shield, fancy gps, racks, and many other gee-gaws. Sold by a fella and his gal friend when the fella had a stroke and picked it up in Lubbock for a SUPER price. More than broke even after selling my 08. This trike just now turned 30K miles.

Anyway, a good friend needs info on converting his Deuce. I sent a note to the site owner but haven't heard back. There are few trike placed in or near SATX. Alamo Cycle Plex is listed as one and one of the Harley branded dealers I think but no reasonably price independents. I suggested to my friend he look beyond the Harley conversion and look at a used trike where someone else paid for the kit/install. Well, I am a cheap skate.

Has your friend ridden a trike?

Assuming his best bud, (you), has already let him ride yours, and he's now itchin to get himself on a trike ASAP???

If he goes to the Harley dealer, he can test ride, or rent a trike.

Cconverting his will definately be cheaper than buying a new trike, and Papa Zook will likely be able to get him onto 3 if he decides to go that route.

Good luck to him....
