Hello from Pa, Shock replacement question

I am the proud owner of a 82 FXWG Frankenstein Conversion. I rode my 76 shovel from new to 1999 when I was struck by a Semi....after a few years of rehab, I tried to ride two wheels but my legs were not strong enough to ride it, So I found a 82 FXWG Frankenstein Conversion. I bought it from a Estate Sale......The Gentlemen who built it died before he got it completed....His Son Tried but I think he had no idea on how to put it together...i,e, fenders.....mounting the Tank right..and a few other odds and ends. Which leads me to the following question: The Son Put two Aluminum Pipes in place of the shocks......STURTS another words.

In Replacing the shocks on a Trike, is it done as if I were doing a two wheeler??? or are there other steps that I need to take? My Shocks are located in the Stock FXWG location.

Thank you in advance for any help
