In Honor and Remembrance. 911

I lost a shipmate at the Pentagon on 9/11. I served with CDR Robert Schlegel on the Arthur W. Radford from May 1999 until Sept 2000. He was the XO of the ship. As the Combat Systems LCPO, I spent many days walking around doing inspections of berthing compartments with him. He had a keen sense of humor for an XO and was sharp as a tack. He used to carry a bowl of grapes during some of the inspections and he’d throw one in a corner to see if the Sailors were cleaning properly. I used to tease him about looking like a dancing bear, as he was kinda portly. One day when we were alone conducting one of the inspections, he suddenly broke out in a dancing bear kind of dance (feet shuffling and such). I laughed so hard that I blew coffee out of my nose. Every year on 9/11, I pause and reflect on the short time I served with him. God bless him and his family.

Thanks for listening.

The night before.......

On this day... 20 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Remember 9/11

From a cove we anchored in( Hemlock), back on Long Island, we could see Twin Towers. So unreal to just see empty sky and smoke after 9/11. NEVER forget!!!:(:mad:7

My Son

My Son went into the Marines in 2000,right out of High School, He graduated from his MOS school on 9/11/01. One of his Commanders was lost at the pentagon on that day!

I worked for a College at the time and I had 5 Students who worked in the Towers 1 made it to safety and we lost 4.

I hope that We as a nation never forget that day and all of the people who were murder by a bunch of cave dwelling nuts!

Also I want to Thank any of you who served during this time.....or any other time,

P.S. My Son is now a SgtMaj, If you can't tell I am a very Proud Father
