I have an 2004 GL 1800 Champion 2 trike with factory installed hitch and 6 pin round trailer connector.

i do not see an isolator on the wiing for the trailer and am wondering, if it was necessary on a first gen GL1800 or is it only the newer generation bikes? Seems to me the tirke dealer should have installed the isolator if it was required.

Should I be taking the tike apart and rewiring the trailer harness to include an isolator or is there a way to put an isolator on the trailers wiring harnes to isolate it that way?

I run an isolator even on my '01 Mercury Grand Marquis. On the trike, I wired fused relays in for both brake lights and tail lights, and the amber signals. Just used the trike's circuits as triggers, but the power to light the bulbs was through the relay on 10 amp fuses at the battery end.
