New River Gorge

I am thinking about taking a ride down to the Gorge this summer. Anyone ever been there? Where is a reasonable place to stay and eat?

My wife and I were there 10 years ago. I think we stayed in a "chain brand" hotel. We also took a tour of an old coal mine. I don't remember the name, but it wasn't far from the big road.

Be sure to go by the Chimney Corner Cafe. We stayed in Summersville one night and Fayetville the next. Pretty rides all around the area.

While you are there, it would be great fun to take a day with "the Rivermen" and raft down the New River. We've done it several times and it is an awesome trip! There are other raft companies, and I'm sure they do a good job too, but "the Rivermen" do a fantastic job!
