New Year, New Trike

I'd been considering trading my 2018 TG for a new 2020 model for a few months. I tend to keep my vehicles for a long while but several friends trade every two to three years before they accumulate too many miles to make their rides less appealing for a trade in. With a bit over 29k on my two year old TG the mileage is considered high, lol.

Anyway after researching and talking to several dealers I couldn't find anyone willing to make a deal I thought was acceptable. But with the end of the month and end of the year fast approaching on December 24th I reached out to one dealer who had seemed more eager to trade than the others. We got back together on the 27th and worked out the details.

So on New Year's Eve, December 31st, I rode up to the dealership dropped off my 2018 and took delivery of my new 2020 Tri-Glide in Tahitian Teal. Wow this is a gorgeous ride. My wife and I are going to really enjoy riding this new TG.

Happy New Year . . . and may 2020 bring miles and miles of smiles to all my friends here on Trike Talk. :)

First off Jerry, CONGRATS & Happy New Year!

Your post started me to wonder what a dealer considers average yearly trike mileage to be?

I know that the rule of thumb for a used daily driver type car is 12,000 per year and about 4-6 thousand for an exotic/sports car,

but never thought about trike annual average mileage?

Secondly, do you notice ant handling/performance differance between your 2018 MY and 2020 MY?

Don't know about annual mileage on a trike or a two wheeler for that matter. I think it's a thing with motorcycles that when they get around 30k many folks start looking at them with apprehension and they are more difficult to sell. Several years ago I had a maybe three year old CVO Limited with a tad over 40k and the dealer I talked to about trading was not at all interested in taking my trade due to the mileage! Now with my local dealer the mileage has never been an issue but that also led me to wondering about the trade difference - they're gonna make it up somewhere - and that led me to thinking about a trade around and hopefully before 30k on the clock . . . or else just keep it for another 30k.

Can't really speak to performance difference since I've only ridden it home - about 140 miles - and then maybe 50 more after I added some of my personal stuff like Mustang saddle with backrest, tour-pak relo bracket. Got a lot more to do but I'm down for a while as I just had TKR on my right knee on Jan 7th.

I will say however that in spite of my hopes (and dreams) the new improved adjustable stock shocks still suck. My DK 14" Pro-Action shocks with the Custom Convertible Lift will most definitely be going back on!

GOOD NEWS Jerry !!! Just off the phone with my dealer. Trike is on the way. My dealer called HD & told them trike was sold & we should not have to wait till March. :clapping::clapping: They now expect it next week. when it shows up, I will take the 16 over so they can swap all the wheels , front rotors, install the paint protector, & switch handlebars, garage door opener. When it comes home, I have the Dynamic rings, bumper, luggage rack, rider pegs, floorboard spacers, luggage organizer on trunk lid, and the new Reaper Windshield by LRS.( Xmas gift from one of the boys) Janiene had told him I wanted one. Gonna try the new suspension first. If we don't like it 14" ProAction in the future. Hopefully can sell the 13" Pro with Lift kit. Keep up the PT so your ready for Tx. Cya in April

OK but I will warn you -it still sucks! I might could ignore it riding solo with the pre-load around 2 or 3 but riding two-up and having to jack up the pre-load due to the extra weight causes it to go to hell real quickly!

My DK 14" Pro-Action shocks with the CCL kit are definitely going back on.

Congratulations Jerry on the new ride! Your list of add-ons is impressive and functional and will give you and your wife some great riding experiences. I've just registered but have been hanging around the forum for some time. Just traded in my '11 TriGlide for a '20 model in Spruce.

Thanks John. I've seen the Spruce color and it is beautiful. Enjoy.
