Oil Valve: Quik Valve

When changing the oil I got tired of getting my hands covered with the stuff so I started looking for an alternative other than going to the dealer. I came across a product called <font color="Red">"Quik Valve"</font> which requires merely unseating a lever from a lock position and turning to the decant position - without getting your hands dirty or using a wrench.<br />
<br />
My question is - has anyone installed and used one of these? Results?

The website does not list motorcycles but does list metric thread sizes. I bought a 14 mm and am about ready to install it.

Well it is fine if u don't dislodge it or it doesn't open while riding the bike . On the Honda it will hang straight down ... Great idea though

Fram, I think, came out with a version of this several yrs. ago. Some tried it but it never seemed to catch on. I think then the fear on the 1500GW was with it hanging straight down. The 1800GW has the horizontal plug in the front so that would not be a concern. I would still be concerned about a malfunction of some sort.

</div>The reviews on the Fram unit were quite mixed and mostly concerned leaks. The reviews on the Fumoto unit were quite positive. I was impressed by the locking lever.

FORGET THE QUIK VALVE from Fumoto. Beautifully made but won't fit as the drain plug on the GL1800 is in a recessed area that will not accept the configuration of the Quik Valve.

I would have been worried not all of the dirt, metal shavings, etc. would exit the small hole since you are restricting the flow of oil.

Most lawn mowers come with these. They are slow as a turtle. I use latex gloves. A box of 100 is only $7 and walmart is carrying surgical gloves for $11
