Rebel RT

RebelRouser

3 days of trying to pull those tabs out 1/8". HPIM4924.JPGHPIM4925.JPGSteering brackets are back from the welder today, and still lookin for a welder that can hold 12" X 60" flatness???:gah:

large welds on one side, means major warp, either minimize welds or use a strong back to pull or push out warp and or twist....sometimes a little force applied and some heat on the offending weld will take out the warp. At work, Bobcat company.....lots of time spent on robot welding sequence, part preload and other considerations.....still heavy mtl. heavy welds, definite problems to solve. On welding fixtures....many times the fixture frame was welded up then sent out to be "normalized" in a large oven....then finally machined. on one off projects like our trikes, become a study in straightening techniques! good luck...looking good!:D

Thank you Larry these one offs can be a bitch, I should have put that straighten bar in right after tacking, live and learn, but then again I am not a welder... I am still fighting with STRAIGHTNESS, need to be looking at a few more shops that can handle it. My next RT will be really on straightness, I am looking for a table 12" wide by 5ft long, the next RT will require a table 24" wide and 7ft long, so I'm looking at both.

Playing with the upper frame and seat? HPIM4954.JPGThe top of the gas tank will be just under the handle bars, I do not think these mirrors will work?

RebelRouser

I need to start looking at ride height, Maybe 6"?HPIM4983.JPGHPIM4986.JPGSeat, Handle Bars, Gas Tank,

I found another rear rim at the swap meet, Harley, But it will save me a lot of machining, Jack shaft sprockets and disc brakes.

Rear Tire will change to General G-Max RS 245-40-18 which reads 25.7" highx9.8" wide, so instead of 22" high, now will be 25.7" high.General Tire-245-40-18GmaxRs.jpgBut then again I'm still in mockup...:gah:

Mock-up rear frame & coil-over... HPIM4992.JPGHPIM4993.jpgMoog-k700517 rear bellcrank.jpgBell crank? I love that MT 245x40x18, The tread design makes WOOOOOW!MT 26x10x18.pngTrike Porn...:D

HPIM4997.JPGSo glad I did this mock up, :clapping:Now I get a better feel for the cross piece, And the jack shaft will go in here somewhere? Next will be the dual coil overs on the front steering support to the control arms...Somebody is NOT remembering the location of jack-shaft? seat?

HPIM5000.JPGHPIM5001.jpgShock to the right and jack shaft to the left, :gah:MAYBE the seat will clear? Front side view will look something like this? IF I do a fiberglass nose piece, It will be with air inlet in mind. The next M/C swap meet will be July 29, will be thinking hard and heavy about the Harley rear rim??? $300. :( Tire $250. BUT it will look sooooo cool...

HELP! Does anyone have any leads to part numbers for this style bell cranks (2)? DRZ400-Bell_crank-super7thheaven.co.uk.jpgI am thinking like local NAPA auto store? And while we're at it, jackshaft sprockets, I am thinking using 2 the same size as the engine sprocket?

Bellcrank probably application specific. In other words, do you know what motorcycle it came off of? You will probably have better luck visiting a motorcycle salvage yard for identifying and locating a matching part.

Chains and sprockets. Your local bearing / industrial supply store will probably be able to help you. Just take your existing motor sprocket in and they can probably spec you some new parts.

HPIM5010.JPGHPIM5012.jpgMore playing with shock locations, and I'm thinking of making my own bell cranks...

More playing... HPIM5020.jpgMaybe the shocks should be higher yet and maybe I will build a fiberglass nose around them? 1-RT Front.jpgOK, will start dimensions for the upper control arm brace/frame...:clapping:
