Just had a sit down with a spectrum mobile rep. I already have Internet and TV with them, so thought what could it hurt.
So I have a iPhone Xs Max and mom has my older iPhone X. For 3 gig shared data, I pay right at $100 a month with taxes and "Other Charges".
When I left there, I'm paying a one time $20 fee to activate the two lines, and $28 a month for two gig of data, one each line. I've never gone over 1 gig in a month for both lines. Mom has a smart phone simply because she likes the large screen (she doesn't have any apps, and doesn't have an iTunes account.), she has never been over 0.2 gig, that's the phone running home to mama. I had it and gave it to her for free.
So, I'm gonna end up with a $72 savings a month. Spectrum uses the Verizon network here, so, there is only a minor difference in the service. We have some very remote areas around here where the customers pay a fee to subsidize their repeaters. In those areas, I would revert to a lower tier service. I never go their anymore since I'm retired.
I was a little skeptical of the service claims so I went to Verizon to check. They confirmed what I was told and since Spectrum has no contract, if I don't like the coverage or whatever reason, Verizon would be glad to have me back, even would get any promotion they have, IE, buy one iPhone, get one free type deals.
So, win win.
