When a fluid flows through a pipe, the amount of frictional loss is largely due to the surface area of the pipe...a circle encloses more area for some fixed perimeter than does a square (or any other shape for that matter), so generally for the best flow, you want pipes with a circular cross-section.
In this application, the difference may be so small as to be considered negligible...but that's the simple physics of it.
By the pix , it looks like the collector is the same size as the tubes. If so , it should be x2 min. Of the tube size. Doesn’t look like a performance viehical, so it don’t matter . JMO
