Thinking about a new seat to replace stock

I have no experience for the gel pad seats, however I've had two seats from Tom Simmons at www.tscustomseats.com in Fayetteville, AR and they wear like iron and basically need no breaking in at all. I put 80K on one and the fabric looked like new and it rode the same as it did new. It's an actual custom seat he puts you and if you have one backseat rider on then takes several pictures and asks plenty of questions.

He also does a trike specific seat that you can get a Utopia like backrest with it that is a bit wider than the Utopia and the seat itself is a bit higher in the back for the rider. Not cheap but no more expensive that the other manufactures in my book. He will also work with the form he has on his website, but I have no experience with that I just rode it got the order placed he gave me a loaner seat and I was on my way until the seat was finished.

Way I looked at it that was two nice rides to get the new seat. Not sure what city you are talking about but from Crawfordville, or Circleville it's around 600 miles give or take a few.

I've removed many seats with gel insert pads. Most of the ones I've seen, appear "over stuffed" thus warping the plastic seat pan and causing fitment issues where the seat and shelter come together. A similar warping happens with older seats from age and seat pans having to support heavier riders.

Did you give the gel insert pads to your avatar

Been having good luck with Corbin and Russell :clapping:

I've used gel pad on the stock seat, then put it in the stock seat, and fiannly went to Corbin on my '85 GL1200. In 2015 I put a Corbin on the '97 GL1500 trike as well.

Now I carry the gel pad in a cover made for it with a non skid surface on bottom on longer trips for when I just want a different position, but that's rare. Sometimes "Wife Unit" uses it for same purpose.

Saddlemen seat

I bought a Saddlemens seat for my 2010 GW/Lehman trike even though i was warned about the fitment problems. The front of the seat didn't want to fit the slot for the tongue on the pan, it also had a huge gap between the Tank and seat. The bolt holes were hard to align, and the seat itself was VERY hard and uncomfortable. I sent it back. Still using my stock seat until I hear good reports on any other brand.

+1 on the tom Simmons seat. I have had one for 2 years and very happy with it. Trailblazer said it.

When I'm on a long ride I carry with me nice soft "thick" seat cushion and just place it on my stock seat............ Aaaaaaaaaaaa nice and comfy..
No need to go out and buy an expensive new seat...
I can ride for hours and be actually comfortable...When I'm done with my ride just put cushion back in the trunk....
Comfort for next to nothing $$$$$$$$$$!!

I sent my seat down to Ultimate Seats and had them put the Mid Rider on my seat pan. Also had them redo the Passenger backrest which makes the passenger sit more upright. We sure like that seat !!

I had an Ultimate Seat made for my old bike, it was a 2001 Valkrie Interstate. The wife and I both loved it! I am thinking about one for the trike we have now, only thing holding me back is the current price tag, lol.

Ultimate seat fan here too. Have the stock seat with beads on my 2 wheeler but the trike came with the Ultimate seat, no comparison. BTW the heat on the Ultimate seat
will fry your assets if you're not careful, it's much hotter than stock
