On my 2008 Harley Electra Glide trike, it show a nav button on the radio. When I push it, is says the program is not installed and to see my dealer. I saw on Ebay a set of cd's that have the different maps on them, I am wondering if all I need is the cd's or will I need some kind of input from a dealers computer..

Thanks and I hope all had a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year..

yea don't waist your money. Without the nav mod the CD's have nothing to program

The cost of the navigation module is a high price to pay. I have a XM Radio and a GPS unit on Ram Mounts. The XM plugs into the Aux jack on the radio to play thru the speakers. When using the CB the XM stops when you hit the push/talk button. The cost of each was in the $100 range. Plus I can remove them and use in my car.

I'm considering buying this GPS unit for my scooter.

Does anyone have experience with the motorcycle/car

4.3" TFT Touch Motorcycle Car GPS Navigation Waterproof Bluetooth NAV+8GB US Map

I runs right at $100.00 and I wish to spend no more than that.

I have the Garmin Zumo 350. Rugged and waterproof (although I can't confirm the waterproof, yet). Comes with the standard Garmin mount and the Ram mount. I am using the ram mount now because the Garmin mount allowed the GPS to fall off while going down the road. It was saved from road death because the plug-in wire somehow held on to it until I could reach down and grab it. Comes with lifetime map updates.

This one does bluetooth sync with a motorcycle headset but will not sync to your phone directly (something I did not realize until I bought it). Also it does not have a card slot or plug-in for mp3 player.

Price on any of the Garmin Zumo models "ain't cheap."

Well I just bought a garmin nuva 57Lm gps today after reading quite a bit on less expensive units.

It has a battery life of two hrs., not really what I wanted but the other Garmin 1300 with a 4 hr. batt. life didn't get very good reviews, and I'm no hand at this tech. business anyway, Why do you think I ride a 28 year old motorcycle?

It is water resistant etc. even though it's designed for a car.
It does have free lifetime map updates.
I have no idea how to go about downloading a Canadian map, which I may need if I don't die first, I want to hit Canada again?

By the way it sounds it is the very basic type outfit I was looking for?

Does anyone have a line on a motorcycle mount system for it? ( maybe handlebar)

Also I would like to find the cable to allow me to hard wire it into my electric system, I admit I know just about nothing about it other than what I seen coming with other units.

The other ( motorcycle) units I looked at with an affordable unit didn't add up to what I wanted, Not displaying mph only kilometers and seemed to be just a little to cheap?

I have a spare garmin nuvi handlebar mount I will give you. If you want, PM a mailing address and I will send it along.

Gook Luck.

I've used the ram mounts Paul ... very versatile and easy to install.

Also ... look at Kuryakyn ... they have a ton of gadget mounts.

Dan:

I received the handlebar mount for my Garmin today, Thank you very much. I like the fact it is easily removed.

I ordered the wire kit from Amazon today.

It's supposed to get a bit warmer here this week and am considering getting my trike out of mothballs.

All the time I spent in the hospital has caused me to fall behind on household chores like installing a new storm door etc.:gah:

I am starting to feel well enough to tackle the job, just need to enlist a bit of help doing it?

I had been grouchy enough the last couple months people are wary?

Seems like it bothers them when I start cleaning my 12 gauge, They don't know if it's them or I'm fixing to blast a hole in the TV big enough to toss a cat through?:drama:
