Wondering if it's time ...............

Thank you all!

Coming tomorrow, Dodge PU pulling aluminum trailer, the dad is also buying a 2003 dart shaped trailer from a buddy to use with his CanAm he rides some. Gonna be a trick to get two trailers & a trike loaded … a real trick I think. My buddy just called, said he heard I sold it, so I knew they had talked about his trailer too. I'm the first stop, so if there is not room enough, he can come back for buddy's trailer with his CanAm or PU later on. It's just over 90 miles to here, one way ... so it's over 100 miles for him one way to my buddy's place.

I'm gonna go down and load up some boxes, pull the tags, sort papers in trike, pump out old gas from tank and put fresher gas in, will start it too, might pull it around into upper yard tomorrow morning before he get's here. Just changed oil & filter recently too. Gonna copy some PC files to a thumb drive to give him too. I did clean & wax it good a few weeks ago. It'll take me awhile to explain some changes like shifter brace addition.

Sounds like a lot, but it'll go fast I think. I'm at ease (but nervous too somehow, not like regret, but more like "glad when it's done" nervous) about it. I'll aim to get a last picture.

It sounds like your Trike is going to a good home, and you are moving forward in life. I hope you find peace in your next move. Hang around here because this is your family;)
:)

Ham steak & sweat potato for supper tonight.

Long ride from Key Largo though.
I know, seen the movie. :)

After supper, going to haul off the trash, get some fresh gas too. I had no idea I had so many gloves and BRP & Shenandoah Natl Park brochures. Humid down there, but she's ready. Got a lot of helmets & jackets.

07-15-20 update:
She's gone, but he didn't have room for the trailer so coming back next week for it. He's also gonna get the other trailer from my buddy. I put 3 gallons fresh gas in her after pumping old out, cranked a little, but then she roared to life. 94,003 miles on the clock.

Like already posted, she's gone. The "Trike Room" sure is empty looking. I'm adjusting to the idea, but it's a strange feeling not having a bike or trike after the years from 1994-2020. I had MCs in the '70s, but for 15 years or so I didn't up until 1994.

Thank you all again, just need to let go of gear now. Funny thing, we thought the trike was going west soon but now I understand the new owner is moving back to Va. near his dad. I can see him on the red trike, his dad on his CanAm, and another son on his VTX out riding the Skyline. His dad was looking at the trike, told the story of the hummingbird on the top trunk, how it was the first hummingbird on he & his late wife's first bike, then first trike, how in 1997 when she picked it out they were at a rally and later that night at the motel she must have gone out a dozen times to look at the hummingbird. Glad we left it alone, always careful with cleaning or waxes.

The new owner and his dad are lucky that you took such good care of it. This is heartwarming, just like a Hallmark romance movie made for TV. :)

Thank You "LoaM"!

Went downstairs yesterday evening, sorting through trike stuff, did not realize I had a total 8 helmets for us, would toss some but first I'll need to strip out some head sets. Got way too many jackets, frog togs, winter riding pants I might wear while blowing snow. Helmet with face shield works for that too. Bet I got 20 pairs riding glasses, even some fog-proof goggles. Part of me says hold on, part says ditch much of it. I did find two 13,000 mile '97 rotors that are like new I bought for the trike last year after finding it's left one was getting to the wear limit. I think I'll put them in the trailer with other stuff for him. Got a perfect headlight assembly for him too, buddy had a '96 and "upgraded" he said to the '98 style, he give me his oem glass one. Went down today but it's hot & humid so didn't do much. What to do with jackets … might take some to Good-Will, maybe give others to someone, even have some maroon & black Honda GoldWing Retro-reflective nylon jackets. Gloves will get used, should not need to buy more. Really bad is every time I bought new helmets, I bought extra face shields and have a bunch of them too. Hauled a bunch of mufflers collected over the years, etc … off yesterday.

Guy at the recycle center wants to buy my truck now, he asked the year, I said 2007, he said "Wow, it looks so good" … I said "Don't they all?"

It's 6:10 pm, still 96 outside! Stay cool y'all!

I almost feel bad now. The buyer rode the trike all over the northern end of the Shenandoah Vally last week, but yesterday his dad came to get the trailer that went with the trike, then went to get the one he bought from a buddy … he told me the FM part of the radio died after a whole day of riding. Said they tried everything, AM is OK, but FM is just noise & static. I messaged his son, the new owner, he's putting in a Alpine with BT & navigation … he doesn't care about XM or the CB. We never once had a hic-up with it?

OK, I'm over it.

A late addition here....

When I got rid of mine, (traded it in for a Jeep) I climbed off of it and literally never looked back. Have sold off all the extras and am happy to have the extra money. That’s how I know that it was time for me and my family to be rid of it. Was getting worried about other drivers not seeing me, especially when my daughter was riding behind me.

Now with the Jeep, it’s no more worry then riding in a car, and still have wind in the face with the top down. Great trade for me and the family. We’re having a boatload of fun too. Only problem is it’s actually more customizable than the Harley! The wife is already bitching about the money that I’ve spent on it in the month we’ve had it.

He needs to check the antenna. Fm needs an antenna
I thought he had left the wireless modulator(Delphi Wireless Modulator / 5vdc power for receiver unit) plugged in too far so that it's powered up, but without XM receiver in the cradle. The modulator was plugged into a 12 vdc outlet up in the hump of the top trunk lid, very close to the antenna and it sends a FM broadcast of whatever is on XM, and it's close enough to the antenna that I never had a local FM station interfere. I always just pulled it out far enough the little light went off. But he says not?

Last few times we were out on the trike, had at least one driver pull out in front of me. Last ride also had a PU meeting me on a gentle curve, but he was drifting towards my side of the roadway too, very spooky.

With idiots intentionally targeting motorcyclist these days you have to be ultra alert. It's getting scary out there for sure.

I don’t know if they are intentionally targeting motorcyclist just might be that when you are riding a bike It becomes up close and person whereas if you are in a car you just shrug your shoulders and look at the other guy maybe blow your horn and say what an asshole😱

Yup. That’s it exactly.

Well it seems if you are white and on a motorcycle you are a target. Man target motorcyclist.

Wow, just saw this. So sick.:mad::furious: Build the gallows the old way, stick by stick, right out side his cell window.

If I give serious thought to getting another trike of any kind, it'll be at least sometime Spring or Summer 2021. We like car or truck rides too, there might be a Mustang convertible in our future for all I know. Maybe a Can Am or GL1800 trike? Might look at them Stallions too?

I kind of dig the 32 Ford highboy roadster or coupe with modern running gear idea except when I think of overnighters (parking at a motel?).

I did see a nice '50 Ford bus. coupe with original interior under plastic, 3 spd, has oem OD too, 239 Flathead V-8 with old school Fenton cast headers, 2 Stromberg 97s, Isky cam & heads, new blue paint. Was in Georgia too, I could drag it home on a trailer.

Then there is a nice '57 Ford Fairlane 500 2dr HT "resto-rod" with a mild 460, C6, Mile Maker OD, all new paint & interior, widened steelies with wide whites, looks near stock. Was in Georgia too.

Forty Fords are nice too, coupe, convert, or PU, but no sedan, would want later model running gear & juice brakes for sure.

Wouldn't it be a kick if we ended up with a '55 Chevy 2dr sedan (love them too). Nice "crate motor" & Turbo 700R4, old school Cragars, or Fentons, 3" pipes, 4 quiet mufflers, all the comforts. All these Fords and then a Chevy to just mix it up?

Hey, how about them '57 Chrysler Imperials. Now there's a "statement" even George Jetson would agree with!
