THOUGHT I'D SHARE A LITTLE SOMETHING WITH YOU ALL ON HERE,
I HAD BACK SURGERY 1 3/4 WEEKS AGO AND FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE 4 MORE WEEKS OF HEALING BEFORE I Can GO BACK TO WORK,
SO I HAVE HAD BEEN BUILDING A V6 TRIKE IN MY MIND AND GETTING FUSTRATED CAUSE IT WILL NOT GO TOGETHER AS I WANT, GRINN,LOLJUST THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY, ANYONE ELSE HERE TRY THAT AND GET IT TO WORK, PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE SECRET TO IT,GRINN. ANOTHER 4 WEEKS AND I WILL BE IN THE NUT HOUSE,GRINN
RAY

Ray I have thought about using a V6 front wheel drive for the power plant and rear end for the back. Basically like building a VW trike.

Ray take it easy and let your back heal. You will get back at it soon enough.

hey ray, the giantkiller is a v6 3800 buick, G.M. front wheel drive assemblies are a nice compact package. my donor car was a 1985 Buick Park Avenue. more power than a sane person needs & great fuel mileage. oh did I mention that i wasn't blessed with much sanity, LOL

Caveman an...an absolutely Insane Application for a Light Weight Vehicle. In '02 I used this Engine in a swap for an '87 Fiero Coupe and mated it up to the Isuzu 5 Speed Stick that came in the Fiero...What a Ride! This was absolutely the Fastest Ride I've ever had and I got years of enjoyment out of that Swap...infact, I just sold it to a Mechanical Engineer in PA and he and his son are having a Blast tearing up the roads of Eastern PA.

Ya know Ray...let that back heal but don't stop thinking! You may want to consider the 3800 with an Auto Tranny and use the rear of the Fiero Body with the Fiero Engine Cradle as a Rear Body....Side by side Buckets! If you're interested get in touch with Ed Parks at the Fiero Factory (just outside Huntsville, AL)...last time I was down there we watched a guy with an '88 Fiero GT powered by the Supercharged 3800 mated to the Getrag 5 Speed Stick spank a guy in a Mustang GT. Though, if I were thinking Trike, I'd stay away from the Supercharged Configuration.

;-) Ed...Feel Better and Heal Well!

Thanks guys,
i will habg in there, just not allowed to drive or anything but watc the tv and walk, and think of trikes,
i have tried the fierro and it is great, but someone has done that,
i want to build a trike that no one has done or even close to it,grinn.
Let me share something with you all that i had found out in my time of playimg around,
okay, if you take and outboard drive out of an outboard drive boat and remove the outdrive, and it will mate up to a turbo 350 tannie adaplter, you have to do some maching to cut it down a bit to shorten it up, about 1 inch, and you take the torque converter out of a v6 automatic or a 4 cylinder automatic car[rear wheel drive] the torque converter is shorter in length and overall size, but will work on an v6 or a v8 motor,
now on the out drive, you have it mated to the motor and on the end that goes to the gearbox for the propella, you can remove all that and you end up with a hole on both ends[l and r] you can take that one end that has a spline gear, go to you local machine shop and have them make you a double spline shaft,
put it all back together and you can usr the rear swing axles out of a newer corvette and hook it all up to a corvett rear end and you have a trike with a shorter lenhth
anotoer thing you can do the same thing with the out drive and put a sprocket for a chain or belt drive and on the other side disc brakes for a bike, similar to what the boss hoss does,
i want to build a v6 trike using what i Have shared here, but to look like a Goldwing or HD similar using my own design in gas tanks and other sheetmetal.
Thanks again,
Ray

Ray didn't know you had the back worked on, I would of came down to say hi. Been thu that let it heal. I tried the v 6 from a olds, in Nebr. got show pic of it to ya, I know you will make it work and be awesome.

Wow Ray that is VERY INTERESTING. Got to see that when you are done.

we will see how it goes, i alway change my mind and come up with something else, who knows, grinn
i just want to have a final trike that me and the wife can ride and enjoy together or she can go ride it without any problems, she is due to retire soon ans wants to go riding,[without me-grinn]

Tell Becky I said "Good for her!" . No reason she can't be riding too!

I will, she is the wildone on a trike, shas ridden before and wants to do it again, lol she has gad owned a corvair trike with twin turbos while in so, calif, she is the wild woman on three, grinn

When "building in my head", I find it helps to draw it out. They say "IF you can draw it, you can build it" & I've found that true -- so far. Right now, I'm doing that with a camper trailer & am almost to the point I need to start drawing it out to get radii & measurements, do the stress analysis & see if "unitbody construction" will work as well as I think or if I have to build a frame.

With your description of what you're planning to do, I had a flash back to the late 60s Pontiac Tempest with it's forward engine & rear transaxel. That might make an interesting trike, huh? Upgrade the engine, of course. I can't remember if that had IRS or not. Wouldn't be ALL that hard to make it IRS if it wasn't. Just a thought.
i already have the design on paper and all, the thing is i donot want massive power, want it to be lite and still have plenty of power,

That's some cool ideas RedneckRay. I've been toying with the idea of building a V-6 trike myself but there's no money to be had for this project right now. Someday maybe.
