2006 Harley Electra Glide, 2006 Motor Trike conversion

Any one ever replaced air bags on a 2006 Motor Trike. Dealer ordered bags to ship to me, but have never done this. Any ideas or tips welcome.

Thanks

Wayne

Wayne, welcome to Trike Talk Forum.

Replacing the airbags is straight forward operation.

Jack it up and remove the wheels and place stands beneath just in case of slippage. Let the rear wheels (or axle) dangle and don't compress the suspension.

Just make sure the air lines don't rub and are secure and don't twist the bag when tightening.ThumbUp

Another Question.

Where are good points to place jackstands? This is a Motortrike, looks to be a Gladiator, stamped 2006 solid axle, on 2006 Electra Glide Classic. Just don't know the best place for jackstands and don't want to mess anything up under there.

With a solid axle you should have the Trog conversion. The kit on my '02 was originally on an '06. You should be able to block up the rear of the frame inside of the mufflers. The body is mounted with 1/4" bolts through the frame. Be careful not to put the blocks under these bolts. They're not going to handle the weight without bending. Also make sure you don't pinch any of the wiring.

Like Lee said replacing the airbags is pretty straight forward. If you unhook any airline fittings make sure the locking collar is all the way out and locked or it will not hold pressure. (DAMHIKT)

Many Thanks To All

We got this done really with no problems. Thanks for everyone's help it would seem to be quite easy. We actually put it up on ramps on the rear wheels, then raise the axle just enough on one side to remove the wheel, then a simple matter of reaching through to remove the old airbag and replace with a new. Sort of a maze the upper airbag nut is plastic but I guess that works. We then repeated that on the other side and everything was fine. Thanks for all your help and I apologize for my lack of knowledge but perhaps I will learn!
