VANDERHALL: Debut of the Vanderhall Speedster

I found that Vanderhall announces early to inform and build interest. Patience is hard, but required. They are still a small company with huge dreams. They are just starting to move into the new factory where the Carmel will be built. It is phase 1 of a multi year project to expand to 1M sq ft. Doubt that Carmel will be out before bike week.

I've heard some estimates that the roof and a/c will be less than $7K. Besides the new models listed on the website, they are expanding into Europe and will be at the Brussels Auto Show. I am amazed at their growth. They have at least doubled production every year since 2015.

When Sandy and I first heard of Vanderhall in Dec 2016, we placed a deposit on a Venice. We eventually purchased a Laguna and applied our deposit to it 18 months later. If you are interested in Carmel, I suggest you place a deposit to get in line. Vanderhall will contact you to determine what path you want to take. Deposits are fully refundable, they just buy a place in line and get the conversation started.

I don't gain anything from Vanderhall sales, I just try to be a positive ambassador for them. Sometimes it's just a leap of faith.

Eye candy!

Vanderhall Carmel videos from the AIM expo in Vegas Oct 18

First is the Broze unit with stock interior

Second is Silver with heavily optioned red interior.

Both are preproduction and may be slightly different than production. Neither appear to have a/c or tops. They do have modified windshield mounts to accommodate the top. Search YouTube for Vanderhall Carmel for a few more videos.

Thanks again Ken, I'm close but if they would just come out and say that we could order with accessories of choice and not be charged twice for items we don't want or need, I'd order today!! Also at Biketoberfest, their vehicles were discounted so there is room to negotiate! Paying sticker price wouldn't be as bad if you could have accessories in with the deal depending on how many and related cost of course. It's just frustrating being teased with what would probably be my last trike/autocycle/3 wheeled vehicle or whever the states agree to call it and not being able to get all the information directly from the factory. Even the dealers don't have the info so I'm reluctant to plop down money without knowing at least the approximate cost involved. Tom

The price for what you want is always with the dealer. At major events dealers may offer specials if you're willing to wait. We did. I have never had luck with finding what I wanted on the lot. Wrong color, wrong options, wrong price. It's your money you should get what you want. Most dealers want to sell inventory on hand and haven't taken the time required to fully research future products. Call some different dealers and see who is willing to work with you on creating your dream vehicle. It will not be cheap! I doubt that Vanderhall has even released price info yet besides MSRP of $39,950. Hot new models are seldom discounted heavily.

The hang tags had about a 4g event discount and I think the sticker was but a bit more than 32g. Could be wrong but close! I can wait a bit to save at least that on a 30g vehicle and I'd be looking at mid 40s vehicle. Tom

just curious.... what is the draw here? i agree with to each their own but i dont even see a resemblance to a motorcycle here.... once the bars are gone it seems closer to a car that lost a wheel a Miata is only about 1/2 the price

Thank you, they are supposed to ship the top to me direct and still waiting to hear when the trailer hitch will be available. First trip will probably be to Maggie Valley in a few weeks. Tomg

View attachment 74778The wait is over and it was delivered last Thursday nite. The vehicle is so new the insurance company didn't have any info on it so they had to have the underwriters get the vehicle added to their system which took until Monday late. Tomg

You coming to Maggie Valley?

I may have to take a ride in this...

CONGRATS...!

Tomg,

Congratulations on the purchase of Vanderhall Carmel. Although your Carmel color appears it be black, it actually is their Poseidon Blue, correct? As you know from my previous posts, I'm very interested in the Carmel and I'm leaning towards the red Carmel GT. I'm having a bit of hesitation with justifying the extra $4K, where one gets a leather interior, paddle shifters and glossy black rims, but it's the Ruby Red Metallic color that I like, over what colors offered for the Carmel basic, Poseidon Blue and Vintage Silver. What was the turn around time you waited from when you pre-ordered to when your Carmel was delivered?

I convinced 3 "Vanderhallers" to attend the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally this year. More said that they plan on attending next year and I hope that you're one of them. I plan to be hosting a TT/T.O.I. Meet & Greet/Ride/Luncheon event again during the rally, but this time in my Carmel.

Again, congratulations. Many safe miles...!

Yes it is blue, dark dark blue. I actually think I might have picked another color and now they only list silver and the dark blue so what's up with that? The top, cruise control and dead pedal plate came standard which were all items I would have had to order so I thankful I saved there. I have the black rims on my Durango SRT and had black graphics put on the sides but I actually like the rims that came on the Carmel. I wish they would have left the cup holders by the shifter as where they are, they are pretty useless, very shallow and narrow. I ordered back in December but the wait time was longer as they weren't producing them then. I can't imagine you would wait near as long as I did. So far they have not taken my ideas of folding seats and a lockable cover for the storage area yet. One really needs the trailer hitch as the storage area is very limited as well as difficult to use. Tomg

Was wondering about storage, looks like almost zero to none, so gotta have that trailer it seems for any kind of trip. Agree about the folding seats, would have been a nice convenience, not trying to pick it 'cause ain't nothing perfect as the saying goes. That bad boy sure looks good in the picture, so it's hard to pick 'good looking', sleek and stealth are the words that come to mind. I do not see three wheelers anywhere that look as good. Only time will tell the quality of the machine.

Storage is very limited to behind the seats which only slide forward several inches. Access is difficult to be kind! They need to have folding seats for access and a lockable cover. Even with those mods, you will still need a small trailer for luggage, folding chairs and space to carry a cover when parked at night for rain. That's why I keep looking for the release of the trailer hitch! Tomg

Tom, sure hope Vanderhall comes through for you and future buyers. You have been totally patient in your wait, common sense, if Vanderhall wants to expand their buyer base they will have to get moving on a hitch. Surely not that complicated, if they can design the machine, the hitch should not be an issue.

I was told a couple of months ago that the redesign was complete but obviously getting it into production with a vendor they want is something else. Same thing with the top! Hopefully they will be available sooner than later. Tomg

Yes, it's reality that production is a huge hurdle even for a good concept, here, patience is a virtue. Us riders, including me, over look this detail, including those things that break and have to be fixed, think it's called 'tunnel vision', if we ain't riding we ain't in happy place.
