I went out to start my trike and when I turned the key on it makes a hissing sound, no lights, no radio or anything. I know the battery is up because I have a charger on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Put a meter on the battery, if 12.7 v and doesn’t drop below 10 v when starting , check connections. No lights, no radio = no juice!

Will a battery go bad just all of a sudden? I got it started, let it run about 15 minutes and turned it off and now nothing.

Yes, unfortunately they do all the time. One minute they're good, the next they're junk. It's a fine line that separates good from bad when it comes to batteries.

Put a voltmeter on your battery

Start with 12.7 volts= full charge

Turn on head lights if volts drop below 10 and do not recover when light is turned off your battery is bad

Hissing sound, what would make that, a loose connection at the battery?

Pooch, is the
Yuasa YTX20L battery better than a Interstate?

I can't tell you which is better or worse but I stopped carrying Yuasa in favor of Interstate.

Nearly 30% of my Yuasa batteries failed, whereas I have 1-2% failure rate with Interstate and they replace them .... at no charge too.:clapping:

I took the interstate battery out and put on a 20 amp charger for 24 hours and the needle didn't move. It just wouldn't charge.

I would guess that that battery is toast........And i would not recommend putting the new battery on an 20 amp charger for more than an hour....Less is better...

What did the needle indicate Howard ? What kind of charger do you use ? Call me if you have a chance.

Bob is most likely correct about the toast part.

Jim, I have lost your number but the charger is a 2/20/50 and the needle never moves off of zero in fact it go neg even after 24 hrs.
