Alan, take the bearing dust caps off again. Find a rubber binder or large O ring that fits snug on the inside radius and put them back on
This will help to seal water and moisture out of the hubs and bearings
Not a bad Idea ...

Cool project.
We used a cargo trailer for years...tons of great memories...this pic is from around 15 years ago.
Here's another blast from the past-
Kevin
I have that same awning ... LOL .. used to put it in front of the Time Out ... I really miss my Time Out
Had an idea and moved the license plate light down to the trailer, this way, when I need to take the luggage rack off, I can. Like to paint the trailer and the rack. I did take the luggage rack off because I went and got a hunk of that UV stabilized marine plastic for the trailer floor ordered. Stuff is pricy, but, it is literally maintenance free. Ordered it in black. They just need to get me in their que to get it cut. I could have done plywood for about 20%, but I would need to replace it every two years. Wood dry rots so bad here. I will probably paint the rack side rails when I do the trailer. Part of me likes it red .. LOL. Maybe leave the bottom Red and paint the luggage rack sides gloss black .. Like Trump says, we'll see what happens.
In this picture you can see the light centered in the rear, I plan to mount the plate with self tapping screws just above it:

As you can also see, I cleaned up my 4 action packers. They weren't gross, just dusty, so they cleaned up nicely. I also cleaned up my 12 lock, keyed alike set .. they were dusty too. It takes 8 locks for the action packers, one for the receiver, two for the cable that locks all the packers to the trailer frame. That leaves me one spare ... .. they are not great locks, but, they keep honest people honest, and meet the requirements of my insurance company, so if someone does steal something ... no worries.
Here's the fit:

I will probably put then the other way ... they fit just as well with the length going fore and aft (front to back for the land lubbers ... LOL). If I do the fore to aft, I have a 4' long gap that will fit a lawn chair, tent (I'm not sleeping in a tent ... no power for the CPAP ) or whatever. Can't believe I didn't get a pic with them that way.
I also took the spare off my "used to be work trailer", never used. It mounted really nice under the front of the trailer.

So, until Wednesday, when the DMV inspects the trailer and I get my plates ... I'm done with this.
