It has been -20 here and never got above 0 for a week but so glad it only got a little nippy here in Minnesota.

Be safe in the south, they said the temperatures haven't been this cold down there in decades. They said one city in Texas was colder than Alaska has been all year. So congrates on that record. Stay warm and stay safe. Now you know how we feel 6 months out of the year.

Texans Check In - How are you doing?

Where we are in Conroe: Snow, ice, no power for 2 days, 8 degrees was the low overnight.

Our two Honda 2200 watt generators have kept our phones and computer charged and a small space heater running to keep one bedroom warm enough for 4 of us to sleep. Most of the area roads have been closed due to icing, but we managed to make it to the closest gas station to fill up 3 gas cans to fuel the generators.

Going to check on several of our neighbors. Our neighborhood has a lot of older residents with no power.

I would have never guessed Texas would have a storm this bad, y'all try to stay warm. Keep an eye out for that second storm coming out of the North West

Good News, the power just came back on. Who knows for how long, but it's great having some heat and being able to have a hot meal and take a hot shower....or so we thought.

The Bad News, it powered up the recirculating pump for the hot water heater in the upstairs attic and a frozen PVC pipe joint split and flooded the laundry room downstairs and caved in the ceiling. The plumber came, had 1/2" and 1" PVC and fittings but no 3/4", left to be back in 30 minutes. That was an hour ago and a half ago. No plumber, no running water, but we are warm and safe.

Good for you Randy.

Wow you folks are getting hammered out there !

Was 49° and sunny here all day , going down to the 20’s tonight. Weatherheads are predicting 12” Thursday into Friday this week . Nothing new for the NE.

Hang in there Randy, just keep the heat running any way ya can. That’s why we burn trees here. Folks laugh , but it saved my ass many times. :clapping: Then generator as back up.

Yep......!

Ya know when you look around you realize that things aren't perfect anywhere. So you just have to be happy with where you are. It's hard to be ready for a weather anomaly. You just deal with the aftermath. For those of us in the northeast we're pretty much prepared for this type of thing. of course you're not because it's to unheard of in your area.

Damn Randy, sorry to hear and see this, I'm sure a lot of our folks are having a rough time also, haven't heard from Lola for 3 days, wonder how San Antonia is fairing.
