Paranoid, ignorant, or both?

I noticed that little semi-flat cross-over pipe is very close to the drive belt. How hot does that belt get in stop and go traffic? I'm sure the MoCo engineered and tested this aspect to eliminate all possible hazards to the belt, but ... so I wrapped the pipe. At least I feel better about it now.

I don't think it's an issue. Got over 22,000 miles on mine and the belt is fine. Also haven't heard anyone with more miles saying anything about it. Since the Tri Glide came out in 09 and the set up has been that way for 5 years now I would think that if it was a problem someone would have said something about it by now. Relax, don't worry about it.

Just shy of 50K and no problems with belt...and I dare say I put more stress on it than most with wheelies, burn-outs, etc.

It does look like an engine problem brewing if that powder on the head got cooked off.

The OP's head looks like my dads rear head, don't know why it did it, my 2010 did it also. Both have been tuned so its not a lean AFR. I sometimes wonder if its from getting into some nasty traffic jams, or running hard for 500+ miles out west when the temps were 95+ degrees.

That is probably why HD came out with this finned head bolt bridge to hide the discoloration.

I ran a set of those for awhile until I had head work done and compression releases installed, I don't think HD produced them with burned powder coating in mind. The head in this picture has 30,000 miles on it, some while on a 10.1 compression 95" build and now on a 10.5:1 120" build. The lightness you see if from the camera flash reflecting off the chrome bolt covers. I've not seen any 2 wheel bikes with the powder burned on them, not to say there aren't any out there.
