Just getting to know my Freewheeler. I put it in neutral and tried the reverse. It made a horrible grinding noise the whole time it was backing up. I assume this isn't normal. What's up?

It does get your attention doesn't it...And..Yes it is normal...Theres a tiny gear turning a large ring gear, Pushing a 13 hundred pound trike backwards....

Never pulse (you will be driving the pinion gear into the ring gear over and over again = not good) Hold for no more than 30 seconds.

Not for steep inclines!!

Never use brake and reverse button at the same time. Let off the reverse button and allow to drift (letting the pinion gear retract properly off the ring gear) then brake. Immediately put in first gear to turn reverse off.

My 2014 TriGlide has 21k miles and no reverse issues.
