Oil cooler

I am not a big fan of reusable filters have read a lot on them and prefer to use a disposable. Was just curious if anyone had tried it and if it had any cooling effect.

Yes, we tried them.

We have done extensive testing of many different components to see what cooling effect each one has.

You are not going to get any significant cooling benefits with a finned oil filter. 3-5 degrees in most situations.

The best ways to get additional cooling of the oil is unblocking the front of the engine and getting the oil filter out in the wind, and with a good oil cooler.

Here is a REPORT on Why and How to get some temp drops (which these Trike desperately need). There is a list of each different component, and the average # of degrees each one drops the temps.

Here's a video of just one of the tests we've done.

Ever see what HD called an oil filter circa '76? Looks like an in tank cylinder made from the hair of a mountain goats ass.Saw a write up in Eayriders on how to make a spin on oil filter mount. Still on her to this day( not the original filter)and DK is right putting it out there does cool the oil down.

Thanks Kevin I will just save up a bit and get your kit. Does the cooler interfere with your foot on the shifter at all?

No interference, your foot is on the left side of the shift levers and everything with the kit is on the right side.
