getting anxious

Hello I'm Burnerboy (Ronnie)..... We spoke about our trike builder  (New Hampshire)

Congratulations on retiring, .....I made the decision to retire early myself.... I have never LQQked back, it was the best decision that I have ever made..:clapping: I have saved $$ for this day for many years, and I am lucky enough to have a wife that supports my early retirement ......

She''ll be retiring early herself maybe this year also.....(at 55 years old/ same as me ) Then spend our life traveling/enjoying/relaxing ..... We never had any children, so it's an easy decision for us to make..............NO BOSS/NO TIME CARD TO PUNCH...........ONLY US HAVING FUN TOGETHER!!.. I have had a few of my good friends that worked all their life and died, never ever having the real chance to live.......the good life.....

:D 34 and a wake up!!:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Rumors going around about a possible layoff since we lost out on another contract bid. Going to hold off submitting my written notification to HR. If I stick around, it's possible I could get laid off and get an additional 9 weeks pay in severance.

Time to wait them out.

Hope that works out for ya. Be good to screw the Co., seeing as they froze the pensions. You will love the Kerrville area. We are in Ohio & have ridden down to the last 3 gatherings there. Best of luck on severance pay.

Yeah, not leaving anything on the table. My actual work day will be Dec 19th if everything goes as planned. HR told me I had to be here on Dec 31 to clear out of the company and turn my keys, badge and parking pass in. I explained that I will be half way across the country BUT, is she insisted I be here on the 31st, I would not turn my stuff in at that time and I would be to work on Jan 2nd. If I do that, they need to give me my 4 weeks vacation AND one week PTO. I would then sign out to use ALL that time and they can pay me for not being here. LOL Geez, guess what.... All of a sudden, I can turn my stuff in on the 19th and remain on the payroll thru the 31st. It's a holiday miracle.:D:clapping::clapping::clapping:

I will never understand why companies need to mess with people after they have been faithful to them even after being screwed over.

Tx. Hill Ctry

We retired in 2003, an enjoying every day.

In regards to RV Park in Hill Ctry. We stayed at Medina High Pt. For 4 years. Been over at Old River RV Park in Kerrville, for last 3 years. Going to be there by this New Years. Very new park with great amenities, especially cell phone service.

About 35 % are bikers, for the winter. We go out about every day somewhere riding.

Maybe see you there.

Enjoy retiring. Nice rig.

Well, I notified the company I was going to retire. They said I couldn't retire from here until December 2020. Since they froze our retirement, I won't get any extra money for sticking around so I will be resigning on December 31st. Last work day Dec 19th. Hope to hit the road before Christmas if my house sells. Should go on the market next week.

I will try to live in a toy hauler for now. It's designed for short stays but will try to make it work. First adventure will be heading to Texas hill country after a short stop over in OK City to see my son.

Anyone have info on good campgrounds in the Hill Country area that are reasonable and still have openings please let me know. I have contacted several that are already booked. One replied they had openings but from the pictures you are parked on top of the guy next to you with minimal space...looks like the entire park is dirt.

Hope to see some folks I know and meet and make new friends while in the area.

After taking Hauler on a test run, I decided my Tundra may not hack it when I hit mountains so opted to get a Silverado 2500HD Duramax. I believe this baby will get me up the mountain!!

Hi George!

Leave a post out here when you get to Kerrville! Hopefully we can get a meet-up going with you, Double Trouble, and others who might be in the area...!

I met up with Jan & John at the RV Park in Kerrville to go riding with a small group. You were trying to get Peg and Dave to come over there. Looking forward to seeing you and your wife again.

Yesterday I drove right by the Triple T RV resort. The spaces closest to the road are VERY close to the Bandera highway.... I know there would be a LOT of traffic noise unless you can get a space WAY WAY back at the back side of the park...and yes, you are right....at least in front of the park the spaces next to the highway are VERY close together. The prevailing wind is from the southeast and that blows the traffic noise right on in. I know... my house is on the same side of Bandera highway as the Triple T and I get a LOT of the traffic noise.

I looked at the drone pic of the Triple T park on their website. Several sites are larger than a lot of them. You might check out that pic and call the park to see if you can reserve one of them. They are numbered on the picture.

Since you are new to RV’ng you will probably find that the newer parks are not as spacey as the older parks... you know.... squeeze in as many as you possibly can = more $$$.

I personally have hands-on experience with 2 parks in the hill country that have larger spaces.

One is Lady Bird Johnson RV Park at Fredericksburg TX. Phone: 830-997-4202

However... the bigger spaces are in the quadrant known as The Horseshoe. All other spaces in that park are smaller. Fredericksburg is 22 miles from Kerrville which is in the thick of the hill country riding.

The other park is Fort Mason City RV Park at Mason TX....42 miles north of Fredericksburg. Phone: 325-347-2064. The OLDER section of the park - closest to the Golf Shop is REALLY spacey. Mason is still in the hill country but sort-of on the outskirts of the heart of it.

Those 2 parks were our main go-to’s the 20 years we RV’d with the motorhomes. Absolutely loved them.

I got a call back from the Old River Road RV Resort. They have a pull thru space for me. I couldn't make reservation yesterday because I was on the road. Will call them back in the morning to book JAN&FEB. I will then have an option to stay another month or head on to my next stop in AZ.

Can't wait to meet everyone and get some great rides in. My trike has been in the Hauler since 13 Sept. and my Indian is in the shop on consignment.:(:(

That park’s website looks really nice. Hope you get that space. Keep us informed!

I arrived Friday evening just before the office closed. Haven't been anywhere yet since Saturday was nasty and very windy today. Tomorrow I will get the trike out of the hauler and check her out and wipe the dust away. Staying at Old River Road RV Resort....site #151.

Looking forward to meeting some folks and doing some riding.

Hey Dennis... I will come over to the campground and say hello! Glad you made it!

Theres a couple trikers staying there. George is there. Theres enough bikers there to give you a good time. Ask at the office or look for bikes parked outside and talk them. They will keep you occupied till Jan And I get there on 2/15. Its a nice place but more $ than some others. See you then.

Yes, my neighbor rides. He is also going to change parks because of the price. When I get out and about I may look at other locations since I'll be on a limited budget very soon. I think they get you with the separate charge for electricity. The guy next door paid $130 for one month. Hell, I pay half of that for my house.

Great....think the water line froze up overnight. No water this morning...off to the shower...

Dec and Jan can get cold at night, but probably ridable by noon.:D

They all charge for electric for monthly! Medina Highpoint is cheaper and nicer but they have been bought out by shit head out of staters. We still have riding friends there. Skyline in Bandera, where we are, may not have space. Hill Country Rv Center is a mudhole when it rains. Pioneer is $320 but small. RiverSide in Bandera is $275, not as nice. Don't know about Farm Country. Best to stay south of US10.

Anywhere you go, let us know. I probably can get you a local rider to show you around.

I am not local, I live in San Antonio but can get there in a hurry.:Joker3:

If it's below 60 I may appear to you Yankees to be overdressed. Just remember I am a Texan and proud of it.

D/Tbl,

like I said earlier, I retired early, (55 yrs old) and never looked back...(my company was the same, if I stayed ten more years, I would not get a penny more from them) I sat down with wife and had the discussion....OUT THE DOOR I WENT AT 55 YRS OLD... Then I continued on working for my self for ten more years (doing heating/plumbing), and then finely totally retired at 65 yrs old... I get a full pension , all my insurance is 100% paid in full, my Social Security kicked in....My 401K , and investments IRA were large enough for me/wife to live for the rest of our lives (she's 55 and will retire either this year or next) ...My home paid in full, and never had any children, Sooooooooooo life is good..

January 15th, I'm leaving for a snow ski trip, out to Steamboat Springs Colorado, for 10+ days ("think snow") :D Then when I get back were going to a Caribbean Island, for some fun in the sun, for a few weeks, and October we have a trip planned to Spain and Portugal..... I tell you it was the best decision I ever made to retire early...............I went back to my old company just last week to visit (Remember I retired in 2005) and I could not believe my eyes when I saw all my old working friends still there working....:(:( very sad, not one of them ever planned or saved for their retirement.....O'well! **It sucks to B them** ENJOY!!!
