Switching 4 speed to automatic

Depends on your definition of "fit'.

Assuming you have a VW beetle rear chassis as that is the most common. There is no direct bolt in automatic trans. Never an option in a beetle. You can use ( the engine fits trans) a type 3 VW automatic. But the entire rear frame is different.

So....any automatic is going to involve major weld/fab work and a lot of donor parts.

My wife cant get the hang of the 4 speed manual tranny. Ive got a '74 VW drive train on a Goldwing frame. Is there an automatic tranny that will fit?

I have a stick shift automatic gearbox complete with toque converter, servo and starter motor and other parts needed from 1968 type 1 beetle for sale. Robert. Just noticed you are in USA and I'm in UK
