2006 FLHTCUI, Champion trike conversion in 2008 - rear brake concerns.

Any Harley trikes having to pump the rear brakes several times to get a firm stop? I've changed the brake fluid, bleed the system, etc. but the soft pedal keep occurring. No fluid leak. Only 5000 miles on the bike.

Sounds like your master is leaking internally, may need a rebuild kit

Are you getting air out @ the calipers?

Pumping the brakes up to get a better pedal is a sure sign of 1 an apparent leak

2 a leaking piston seal in the master cylinder

You mention low mileage, keep in mind even low mileage with contaminated fluid can ruin master and caliper seals, scoring inside will lead to a weak and or no pedal

Hope you have this sorted out by now if not maybe this will help. Rear brake fluid change and caliper ebrake adjustment is usually the cause on wifes trike when pedal is low.

Sorry it took so long to respond back...

2/6/2023 - tried everything I could think of...took trike to a shop that had a mechanic that thought he'd be able to find and fix the problem. No such luck (read the attached invoice). Bottom line - we tried rebuilding the master cylinder - did no good. Still have the soft pedal.
