I have shared the conversion information with several folks and I really don't know how many have actually performed the conversion. I am working on a Honda 1800 Monarch conversion with a guy now and he has done a marvelous job so far. Lehman used the same Ford Pinto/Mustang components on all their kits and this makes for a relatively easy conversion.
Lehman tried every way they could to outwit us on how to make this conversion and "bastardized" some stuff in the stock Ford set up, but you can do this for just a few hundred dollars (depending on how handy you are with tools). The calipers can be had off e-bay for around $40, the rotors for around $50. Some light machine work will need to be done on the rotors, but you can get that done for less than $50. The rest is simple elbow grease.
My design works....is very reasonable in total cost and consist of parts you can find anywhere across the country should you need something. Hot-rod guys make brake conversions all the time and there is no reason why you can't do one on a trike kit that used Ford axle and hub components.
I think the plans I put together and the details I explain scare most people off....but it's simple...you can do it....it's not a jury-rig and it works.
If you want to PM me with your e-mail address, I will be happy to give you the details and you can see if you want to undertake the project. Actually....you don't have much of a choice if you want disc brakes. Lehman will only sell you a disc-equipped rear end for something like $4,000. You can do it my way, or pay the Lehman tax.
Let me hear from you if you want to proceed. I will attach a picture of the finished product on a Honda, but it works the same for the Harley kits. I have 15K on mine and they work like a charm.
Open these pictures below and you will get an idea of the finished product.
