For all southern NYorkers , Northern Jurseyites , we’re losing one of our rock n roll radio stations on May 31.

WPLJ , 95.5 , was sold to some Christian Sindicate. Since 1971 they played music that us boomers grew up on. I personally will miss them. But like it’s said , nothing lasts forever !

WPLJ had a good ride . RIP.

Gonna miss it also........:(...

I live in an area thats blocked by mountains I guess. Anyway reception is so poor I gave up listening to the radio years ago. Now if I could speak spanish all those stations seem to come in loud and clear. Still a shame to see an oldie go. Think I started to listen to it around 68 69 somewhere around then. Fm was just takin off about then.

Purchased my home in 1972. Not realizing there is a local radio tower 1/4 mile up the mountain in front of the house. It’s a powerful AM / FM station (WLNA / WHUD 100.7 fm). It still splashes over all stations at home. Then cable came in. They offered radio stations as a antenna. Then they stoped that and changed to tv radio.

Had to resort to satellite radio for home.

A few yrs back , while at the glamp in Pa., on Saturday nights around 9pm , we tuned to the “ Bockalah Radio” some ware up north. Then it just disappeared. Good old rock n roll with the farmer in mind !

Ah yes, rock & roll stations were at a premium where I lived in east Texas back in the day. We would get a reprieve most nights picking up WLS-Chicago or WNOE-New Orleans.

When i was growing up in Brooklyn NY.....FM didn't exist 50's early 60's , And there weren't any Rock and Roll stations playing music Sunday nights, So i would tune in to a Radio station AM out of Fort Wayne Indiana WOWO...Coming in on Skip ....Its funny how after all those years i still remember that call sign...

Out here in North Jersey like Bill said FM Fades in and out and its useless ....

A local station 103.3 rock and roll golden oldies all day everyday love it. Although not enough Steppenwolf or Jethro Tulle for me LOL... :D just sayin Fred

A lot of good radio stations are gone, bought up by large media groups that take away all the local announcers and then everything is syndicated and you mostly hear tons of commercials, dumb morning shows, some news/weather and a few songs. Here in Lovington is a radio station that has not be spoiled by big corporate buy out or take over. Radio like it used to be, music, news, weather and a local on air personality. :clapping:

Ain't it the truth. I grew up in Memphis and well remember hurrying home from school to listen to Dewey Phillips on WHBQ, AM 56, and his Red, Hot and Blue show. He is the guy that first played Elvis' record on the radio.

All I listen to now is Sirius XM. It's a lot better than the commercial stations imo and of course much better when you're on the road. Hunting for decent AM or FM stations that play music you like is a chore . . . and distracting when you're driving.

Sorry you're losing you favorite station.

Was in Jersey couple of days ago, talk about good food.

One of the best performers I ever saw in Heinz Hall down town Pittsburgh in the early 70's a great show Aqua Lung was one of his hits. Not even sure he is still around if you know what I mean Remember that was a very long time ago. sure was fun though. Fred

Seeing he was born in England in 1674....I would think he's retired now....:D..

But the band is still going strong....:clapping:....
