My little trailer build

Last year after our trip to Watkins Glen I decided I need A pull behind trailer, I had this little 40x48 harbor freight trailer sitting in the shed for about 10 years, so I decided to put it together, I welded all the corners and bolted seams with my little MIG 125. I upgraded the wheels to 12” with Zerk grease fittings, made some brackets to raise the fenders and added mud flaps and LED lights, a bicycle kick stand and this past weekend I added a self fabricated cooler rack for my 25 quart igloo cooler. It pulls like a charm at interstate speeds and I am very happy I did it.

Here are some more, sorry about the sideways pictures. Not sure why it does that sometimes.

Looks good. When I take pictures with my phone if I hold the phone sideways with the bottom part of the phone in my right hand the pictures are turned right.Your mileage may vary.

Nice build. You said that the trailer is about 10 years old and you upgraded the tires to 12" so the tires aren't 10 years old also. Have you checked the speed rating of the new tires? Most of the cheaper trailer tires are still rated for a max speed of 62 mph. Believe me when I tell you it can get really exciting when a 62 mph tire disintegrates at 80 mph! (and it was pulled by a car)

Here's link to some tires I found for replacements on my trailer. I feel better now cruising down the interstate with traffic pulling the trailer.

Thank you for this. I bought the wheels and tires last year. I will check this out

Nice set up. I love the way my bike pulls a trailer that exact size, and like you mentioned

Went to my tire shop this morning to ask about the tires i had on the trailer and he said the 72N i have are rated for 81 MPH so I should be fine. Plenty of load rating to carry what I am hauling. Date code on the tire is from 2020 so he said i should be OK...

Tires

In Ca. They must be DOT trailer tires or the highway patrol will make you park it. Side loads... Ride safe and have fun.
