RAKE

Im doing a DYI outrigger on my Suzuki Intruder 1400 and stumbled across some tech info on that bike, seems it has a factory rake of 36 degrees which seems like a PLUS..... Back in the seventies I was chopping and raking anything I rode ;) but cannot recall what average factory rake of most bikes was those days but thinking it was about 30 degrees.

Thoughts ?

Not true. You need to do some research. There were some pretty good explanations on here by a couple people. Maybe try searching rake and trail.

I wasnt talking about TRAIL only Rake and not presently planning on changing either one

Maybe my question should have been towards Intruder owners that have triked their rides what has been their experience as to steering quality

I totally understand the relationship between trail and rake and the effects of changing rake will alter trail,,,, learned those geometry lessons ( some the hard way) back in the seventies ;)

But as I have never built a trike neck lets pose my question in a different manner.....

IF I had 2 identical trikes except one had 30 degree rake and the other 36 degree rake which one would steer better ??

between 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 inches of trail works best for me on 3 wheels trike or sidecar!
