Rear End Inspection Cover Plate Cover Gasket

Good evening to you all,

I went in to service my hand brake lever mechanism to discover I felt and heard a bearing rumble coming from somewhere. If ever you work on anything you isolate and it was discovered that my right rear housing drive shaft bearing was in dire need to be retired. Pulled everything apart an sure enough, this puppy was bad:(

Luckily found two replacement bearings here in Calgary the right side is ready to put back.

My question is the rear differential inspection Plate/Cover was damaged in removing and I have read somewhere that this is a Ford rear end. Is there a Ford part # that I can utilize to get a new one to replace the damaged one.

I imagine that if you removed the axle shaft and replaced the rear wheel bearing, you replaced the axle shaft seal, and upon initial disassembly you discovered the infamous c-shim spacer.

Lehman had a bad batch of axle bearings supplied to them in the past. It is incredible that nearly 1 out of 10 have eventually failed and all of these bearings came from either China or Indonesia. I learned a long time ago and have been using a TIMKEN bearing that cost twice as much and never fails. I have a pair of those cheesie bearings that I use as bad examples and will never sell.

Is it the steel cover or cover gasket that you need ?

You will also need to replace the 3 bolts that hold the stabilizer bracket to the rear housing. Use gr8 bolts here because the originals will stretch and loosen or break and allow the cover to leak differential fluid.
