Sportster trike conversion rake question

Converting a Sportster 48 into a trike using DNA axle. I've heard horror stories about being hard to turn with stock rake. The trike will be ridden by my petite wife, so I'm concerned. Well I don't mind doing a set of hhi trees, I wouldn't mind saving some money and going with some 3 degree bearing cups if that would be enough.

Welcome to the Gang from Western Colorado.

You might consider private messaging Papa Zoom the owner of this site and a trike builder with lots of knowledge about rakes.

Bearing cups will move it in the wrong direction.

Rich, Welcome to Trike Talk from West Virginia.

The 3 degree cups won't do enough. Get at least a 5 degree triple tree to make steering easy for the Mrs's............:clapping:

3 degree cups will make it worse. Raking the trees will make it steer easier. Raking the frame will make it harder. Unless you install the cups backwards. Which is deraking the frame.

Rich first off welcome aboard. Second to get the straight information not just my opinion I suggest you take a couple of minutes and call RANDY (PAPA ZOOK) this forum owner. You can find his contact information by on the opening page go to the bottom and select CUT-N-SHOOT CUSTOMS ad. That is Randy's business and he sells rake kits at a GREAT price for members of this forum. He will give you the correct information for your setup so you can make the informed decision. Randy is a straight forward honest guy. Most members here will tell you rake it you will not regret that decision.
