For those of you that have larger trikes like V6 or V8s what is your wheel base.
Center back wheel to center front wheel

My VW trike has a 8ft wheel base.
Im trying to get my new build down to 8ft also but it looks like it will be closer to 9ft
I do not know what the rake will be yet

I see a lot are in the 10 to 12 ft length.

Well you know I like a smaller more motorcycle sized trike. I would be trying to make it as small as possible. But that is me.

A 2wd rear diff is narrower that the 4wd.
Or even an irs from a ford and super short drive shaft.
And a short shaft glide.

Just thoughts.

like that irs idea.....then pumpkin can be rigid mounted w/ short shaft..... the axles can be the suspension components. maybe easier said than done, but worth some thought......larry

Drop this out from under a mustang......and..

this irs business has got me wondering???........looking at an irs trike from the rear....when you hit a bump or pot hole with one wheel wouldn't the up/dn travel of the wheel cause it to "arc" or pull in toward the center of the trike, causing the rear of the trike to pull sideways? the shorter the axle the more inward pull? maybe the ridged axle is more stable? what say you guys? larry

This is a long debated design theory.

Straight and IRS is available on several of the bought motorcycle conversions.

Might be interesting to go over in the wing and harley sections and search/ask.

thanks for the reply

snu just thinkin outloud.......I will keep what iv'e got, straight axle with radius rods......w k car transaxle......gave a lot of thought to a symmetrical setup, dodge intrepid drive train....that's what got me on the irs or ifs track. my trike isn't even done, but always thinking of another one! some disease huh! i'll check out the conversion sites.....although, most folks think whatever type they have is the best! well a grain of salt I quess .thanks larry

it looks like my wheel base will be 8 1/2 feet
Total length about 11 feet
