The gap, is worn wide, and the fork is worn thin. It means that the fork cannot place and hold the slider gear that the fork rides in, in a correct position between the gears. Thus your chatter. Because of the wear, it also means that when the slider gear is pushed into a gear for engagement, that it's not pushed in far enough for a healthy gear change. The blueing on the fork and the slider, is from heat.

I will check it closer but I think its just a weird reflection off the oil from the camera flash.

Are you going to rebuild the trans with new parts and/or reuse those that are within the service limits?

I am undecided at this point.The thing I do know is it will probably be winter or spring next year before it happens.Bugs me to leave it broke but thats how it needs to be for now.My current plan is to ride my 2 wheeler this year (hopefully I won''t be run out of Maggie Valley).That should give me time get money to either repair this engine or find a replacement.

Its good you have a bike as back up. I know I'd be in 'Panic Mode' if the trike were my only ride. :shok:
