Glad it's under warranty. Are you familiar with how to get into diagnostic mode and see if you have any trouble codes? It's pretty easy & quick & in the owners manual or online.

Trouble codes

I'm a dinosaur from the days when the only trouble codes i had were.... Fuel, Spark, Oxygen. Missing one of more could be rectified with points, plugs, coil, or turn on the petcock dummy.

DTC

There are over 600 diagnostic trouble codes! Someone please explain to me how much better off we are mechanically, with computer control modules.

Trouble codes

I have every service manual from the past 30 years. For this Freewheeler the service manual and the supplemental trike manual cost over $120.00. My last RK manual was only $65.00. My 81 FLT, 70 FLH, 76 XLCH,79 XL. were Haynes and clymers. The manual doesn't list all codes and even knowing the code is only "diagnostic" and if you start replacing every item listed by code you'll be rebuilding the ecm, bcm, abs, communication modules. You start poking around with a circuit tester and shoot some static electricity across the board and you can take out a whole system. I'm speaking from 20 years working in automotive repair. I baled in 2006, purchasing and updating diagnostic tools and buying specialty tools are too deep into my profit.

I bought a HD service manual for my 2017 Freewheeler that consists of the touring service manual, the electrical manual & the trike supplement, over 1,600 pages for $16.50. They are in PDF format & fantastic. They list every code, every torque spec & all you need.

There is a thread in the front of the Freewheeler forum. Make sure you use the 15% off code.
