So the good, the bad and the ugly......(and a chuckle)

The Ugly

For anyone going west thru Kansas into Colorado on K96.

Take I70! Then go south from Limon Co.

Eads to Kit Carson (credit card gas pump only) to Pumkin Center

the road SUCKS. Extreme ROUGH and both the HD Triglide and my

old Valkyrie Motortrike were bottoming out a lot.

Do NOT eat at Dennys in Limon!

The Bad

Due to a late start

Temps were pushing 100 degrees by the time we got to Tribune Kansas

Wind for Kansas was not bad. IE 15 mph

It was a long hot trip west to Colorado Springs

Coming back, it got hot at Colby. We fought 25 to 30 mph winds all the way back to

central Kansas

The Good

The motel at Manitou Springs was a good buy for the money

The staff at Magnuson Hotel were great and the Italian place next

door is outstanding

The ride up and back down went well. I had some concerns about the carbs on my 1997 Honda Valkyrie

and going that high up. Had absolutely no problems.

The donuts at the top are worth eating. (at least a couple) GRIN

Also stop at the tourist trap on the way up. I think it was about 1/2 up.

You really need your picture with bigfoot and I am sure the wife will need

a pikes peak hoodie GRIN

And the chuckle, IT FREAKING SLEETED THE LAST THREE MILES GOING UP)

Per the sweet young thang in the skin tight tshirt and shorts at the top.

HEY, ITS COLD UP HERE!

Edited to add......full face helmets are wonderful when it is sleeting. I would also suggest taking your rain gear along with your leathers and winter gloves, EVEN IN THE SUMMER!

Other than we had to come home a couple of days early, no complaints

Now for STURGIS next month:clapping:
