What Did You Do To Your Freewheeler Today?

My wife and I rode with friends yesterday, Freewheelers leading the way.

Rode down to Virginia to visit family and continued on down to Tennessee to hang out with my brother for a couple days. 1400 miles round trip. Actually stopped and took a pic of a scenic overlook on 64E just inside VA on the return trip. I generally never stop except for gas and lunch, but I wasn't in that big of hurry and certainly don't get those views in my part of Jersey.

That "driveway" in the background is a 25' drop at a 30 degree angle of stones and bumps. This is not an off road vehicle.

Tennessee. Much easier.

The upper half of my (POS) clutch cable broke, guess what, the dealer says it is a wear item and not covered under warranty

I am so pissed off I am thinking of letting HD finance come and get it, I am DONE with Harley ( I owe 6K on the 6 year loan)

No way! You've got a '21 Freewheeler like mine, if I recall. That's a 2 year warranty. With that dealers thinking EVERYTHING could be a wear item. Clutch cable should not break in 2 years. I've never had a clutch cable break.

I agree, Harley knows these plastic adjusters are junk and they have seen quite a few broken already

If this keeps up just like their sumping and transfer issues they will not keep their base of loyal buyers

I will give the mother ship 1 chance to fix this problem, if they balk I may seek the DOT to get involved, this is a potential accident waiting to happen

JT, if you have not done it yet, slide the boot up on your lower clutch cable and have a look at yours

My clutch works fine right now, I was sliding the boot up to give the lower cable a shot of lube, that is when I saw the upper part of the plastic stem piece was broken similar to this picture

Got my shift lever in today and installed. Came from Get Lowered Cycles, the eBay seller, got it to me in 48 hours. Ordered the chrome one this afternoon just to see which one I like better and have some spare rubber bands if I ever need them down the road. Of course now I have to go take a ride to "test" it out. Might have to go to lunch in DE tomorrow. Thanks priell3 for the link.
